Don’t we ALL ‼️ Read this post to the end, and you WON’T be disappointed.
If you’re expecting us to share the Magic Pill for this….Spoiler Alert, there is no Magic Pill.
But I can share with you something that HELPS A LOT.
At Phoenix Martial Arts we use some Key Reminder Phrases to bring our students Eyes Minds and Bodies BACK IN THE GAME.
You might hear these call and response sequences on our mats…
Instructor: “Eyes Where”
Student: “On Target”
Instructor: “Minds Where”
Student: “On Target”
Instructor: “Bodies Where”
Student: “On Target”
By saying these words, it not only reminds students of what they need to become successful listeners, it also gets them to SPEAK into EXISTENCE what they’re becoming.
How can this help at home?
As parents, you can reinforce what the students are learning on the mats and carry into other areas where students need to become successful listeners.
When you’re giving instructions to your kiddos and they’re eyes are not on you, use the phrase “Where are your eyes?” and have them say back “On Target.” Don’t forget to have them actually put their eyes on target.
When you’re asking your child a question and you get the “deer in a headlight” look, use the phrase “Where is your mind?” and have them respond back “On Target.”
When you’re letting the kids know it’s time to shower up and get ready for bed and they’re flopping on the floor like a fish out of water use the phrase “Where is your body?” and have them respond “On Target.”
And you don’t have to be one of our martial arts students to use this technique! If you’re just one of our AWESOME fans that doesn’t have a student enrolled, you can teach your child this same principle!
